Felicitation to Shri. V.V. Thambi IPS on his promotion as Director General of Police (Crime) (DGP) in West Bengal


KOLKATA: The St. Mary's Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church in Kolkata organised a meeting immediately after the Holy Qurbono on Sunday, the 22nd May 2011, to felicitate its member, Shri. V. V. Thambi IPS, on his promotion as the Director General of Police (Crime), in the State of West Bengal. The meeting was chaired by the Vicar, Rev. Fr. Varghese Payanadathu, and the main speaker was Rev. Fr. (Dr.) K. P. Aleaz, who is also the member priest of the Parish.



The welcome address was given by the Vice President, Shri. M. O. Varughese, who has highlighted the unconditional support being given by Shri. Thambi to his parish, irrespective of his very busy schedules. He also reminded Shri. Thambi that not only the Kolkata Parish but also the entire Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church need his continued support and guidance. In his address Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Aleaz pointed out that while very senior Police Officers normally do not have much faith in God Almighty, Shri. Thambi is truly an exception. Smt. Lini Rajesh spoke on behalf of the ladies of the parish and she also sought the help of Shri. Thambi in the activities of the Parish. Every speaker on the occasion appreciated the humbleness and the vast knowledge of Shri. Thambi in every field.



Managing Committee Member, Shri. Kurien John, read out out the “Mangla Patram” and the same was handed over to Shri. Thambi by the Vicar on behalf of the parish. The senior most member, Shri. C. K. Daniel, handed over a memento to Shri. Thambi as a token of appreciation. While giving the reply speech, Shri. Thambi thanked the parish and also narrated some of the very difficult situations faced by him in his career where he always ensured that justice is done to the people. The meeting ended with a closing prayer by Aleaz Achen, which was followed by light refreshments to all those who were present in the Church.
